Business Idea & Planning Your Business

So you have an idea for a business, great.  Lets put pen to paper and write it down (or fingers to keyboard).  By writing your idea down you are adding structure to your idea.  You are bringing your idea to life!  You're creating something that will be tangible.

Writing isn't everyone's strong point.  For some people talking is easier.  Verbalising your plan can be easier so if this is the case try to record your ideas.  Say it and then write it.  Use your voice recorder and if you want you can use an online voice to text service to save you typing it.

Given your idea is going to be formalised into words in the written form, where do you start.  You'll need a beginning and an end.  One of the reasons people dont write down their business idea is fear of revealing it!  Sounds crazy but it's true.  If revealing your business idea is an issue think about the idea as a plan.  Writing a plan doesnt have to be about revealing the actual idea!

Do you want to know how to write a business plan?  Who do you trust to tell your business idea to?  I'm going to be blunt with you.  There are very few ideas that will be successful that havent already been tried. Taking an idea to the market and making it a success is great fun to have on paper.  So put pen to paper and share with as many people as you trust and then see if you can get the funds together to start your idea.  When it comes to ideas that have not been tested in the real world is they need a lot of cash to launch.  Venture Captitalists will help but only after they have seen your paper with pen marks!

Oddly enough most businesses that are successful are not unique, they operate in a healthy market place, quite often highly competitive.

Your passion and drive should be enough to gain traction in your business but if it stagnates do not give up.  Stay focused and seek some advice.  It may be just a few words from someone not attached to your day to day running of the business that helps you see a new way forward.
